  1. Hi-

LOVE these images. Thanks so much for providing them. I'm looking to decorate my home with old Hollywood images...pretty much of what you upload.

Would you be willing to share where you get these?
If so, do you know if I can get them at a high enough resolution for printing them out on my home large format printer?

    Thanks so much.

    All the best,

    Dan Gordon

I've really enjoyed looking through this blog. I'm writing a new novel set in LA in the early 60's and this has already been a great source for me, mostly for restaurant names etc. I'd love to interview you as an expert for the book. I've also been using retired LAPD lieutenant Raymond Foster, editor of Police-writers.com - you can see some of my work here for About.com

thank you so much for your help.

    1. If you haven't already, check out the movie "The Loved One" for 1960s LA. It was tied up for for decades in ownership dispute, but you can find it now. Based on Aldous Huxley's novel, w/screenplay by Christopher Isherwood and Terry Southern, no less. In addition to the astounding cast (Jonathan Winters in at least 3 roles, Rod Steiger, Liberace, Roger Morely, on and on), it's loaded with stuff no longer here...the expat Brits meet in The Whale on La Cienega, and Whispering Glade is all shot at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. Stilt houses in Beverly Glen, period revival houses, etc., etc.

    2. Oops, my bad...it was Evelyn Waugh who wrote "The Loved One," not Huxley. Huxley wrote a very similar book ("After Many a Summer Dies the Swan") in which a classically educated young Brit arrives in SoCal and is overwhelmed by cultural dissonance and proceeds to make fun of it...just like Waugh did in his book. And of course Greystone Mansion is still with us.

  3. It’s nice! Facebook nowadays is extremely popular among people. It is one of the preferred platforms for business marketing but using this platform in a right way is important in order to avail benefits. I have personally hired the best facebook ads management Los Angeles service for this work.
