Abbey Road Billboard / Paul's missing head mystery solved!

As I collect more and more billboard photos along the sunset strip in the 60s and 70's, I came across these 2 shots of the Beatles Abbey Road. But if you look closely at these two photos - you will notice Paul's head is missing in the Polaroid photo. Rumor has it some high school kids sawed it down in the middle of the night and it ended up in someone's bedroom. Another Paul is dead hoax perhaps? Capitol never "repaired" Paul, leaving the billboard as it was.

But check out what we uncovered!!

Later Paul's head showed up in this kids Bedroom...AMAZING!!!

I love the kid's orange wall.
In the 1970's, my bedroom was orange.
    Those were the days.

  3. I love this site

I still have John Lennon's head from the billboard... Head East was the boutique directly behind the billboard on the northwest corner across the street from Dino's.
Frank Rowena founder and owner of Head East
bought the remaining Beatles heads and placed them in the store windows.. when Frank died the family paid us off in trade
Roger Varon the store manager got George Harrison
Cliff the asst manager got Ringo
I was the designer (custom leather wear)
I got John Lennon's head some bales of leather and a Singer 111 leather sewing machine.
... years later I hung out with a guitar player named Donny Alvarado He claimed to have named his
punk band "Chainsaw" in honor of the saw he allegedly used to cut Paul's head off.
I Don't know who the kid is... Donny???

If anyone has anything on Head East would love
to see it posted.. the list of celebs and rockers
    who shopped there was endless.
